@birdpoof Oh, I thought you were kidding. 😀
Uhuru has a set of lungs!

@BlackAzizAnansi Perhaps it's only a small comfort, but it didn't happen overnight. It started with Reagan and Newt, and it's taken them almost 40 years to pull the wool over America's eyes.
But as thorough as the brainwashing has been, it's still tenuous. It needs constant reinforcement or else the people start thinking for themselves. If you can get Uncle Frank away from the TV and Facebook, and show him different lands and different cultures, all of that blind ignorance may just fade away.
The churches know this. That's why they were against the quarantines. It wasn't the money; they get money either way. They didn't want folks to stay away for too long, because they will start to think for themselves .

@birdpoof I'm pretty sure you are joking about a soundtrack album, but I would definitely put that Spock solo on my MP3 player.

@birdpoof It's unlikely that all of them are such good singers. I wonder who needed Autotune?

@birdpoof OMG, I'm watching it now. After reading the synopsis, I thought it was going to suck, but it's actually pretty great.

Virginia Tech has announced they're ending not just legacy admission preference, but also early decision. (Early decision applicants get admitted at higher rates at many schools than regular decision applicants, and they're an easier path for families wealthy enough not to need to compare financial aid offers.) They''ll continue to offer nonbinding early action: insidehighered.com/news/quick-

@sarajw This blows my mind. Imagine making infrastructure so car dependent that you make walking illegal.

It's surreal: Infrared light reveals hidden portrait beneath 1943 René Magritte painting. Research is part of broader collaborative project to study Magritte's materials and methods. arstechnica.com/science/2023/0

Emerging from the Indiana Tropical Rain Forest, the young couple enter the derelict building, seeking shelter from the incessant rains. It was hot, but they built a fire anyway, hoping to dry off. No-one would ever read those books anyway.
The young man stared into the fire, seemingly lost in thought. Presently, he spoke.
"We got rid of all of *those* people, just like Jesus wanted, but still God is punishing us with this rain. What more can we do to make Him happy?"
The young woman said nothing. Females weren't allowed to speak.

It is better to be slapped with the truth, than kissed with a lie.

A world where superstition is real, a world where magic is natural, a world where ghosts and demons exist, a world where alternative medicine works better than real medicine-
that world is a LESS interesting world.
The real world has rules that impose constraints on what is possible, so when something amazing happens, it happens in spite of those constraints.
If anything was possible, nothing would be awesome, and that would make the world very boring.
An ordinary garden is wondrous; imagining that mystical fairies live in it would be gilding the lily.

Of course, Donald has been indicted for his criming in connection with Jan 6.

Am I being greedy wanting Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lindsey Graham, Jenna Ellis, Ted Cruz, Lauren Boebert--and all the other Republicans who helped plot/facilitate the insurrection--to be indicted too?

me chanting as I enter the subway station: No bail! No bail! No bail!

The lady selling churros joining in: No bail! No bail! No bail!

The train pulls up and all the people get off:

NO BAIL NO BAIL NO BAIL!

@Radical_EgoCom

Saw a big one of these on a car a few minutes ago. Much better variant IMO.
