@amaroo The only thing I can think of is to starve the beast. Stop watching TV networks that won't talk about it, stop buying papers, don't give their link a click. That's one of the reasons I came here to Mastodon 2 years ago. No corporate media. I walk the walk, comrade. I haven't paid a cable bill or boiught a newspaper in decades. And I don't miss it at all. It's mot east, but it gets easier, and we have more motivation that ever before.

BUT, cancer is a very deadly disease that can be cured by radiation, and our country is currently being infected with the cancer of Fascism. So I'm putting my gun control activism on the back burner until we beat the Not-Cs.

Credit where credit is due, the Russians are top-notch when it comes to trolls. Much more effective than domestic trolls. I would say maybe Russia should stick to cyber warfare, and leave the conventional fighting to countries that don't have an incompetent dictator.

On a hot day a couple of summers ago, a girl in a wheelchair took her dog to a local pond to cool off. The dog was splashing about near the shore,. but he ventured farther out into deeper water. There was a bunch of hooks, and fishing line and junk under the water, and the dog became entangled, and as he struggled to free himself, the tough, nylon fishing line just got tighter and tighter as it wrapped around his little body. The girl was unable to get help in time, and she had to watch, horrified, as her beloved pet slowly drowned just out of reach. All I'm saying is be carefull how you dispose of fishing line.

@mikebaz We need a name for this new favorite legal strategy pioneered by legal scholars Sean Hannity and Alex Jones. Something catchier than the "only an idiot would believe me, so therefore I am not guilty" strategy.

@CvilleTgr @jeffjarvis @futurebird Calling it a tool is absolutely spot on. The media, the oil barons, the arms manufacturers, the criminal justice system, and the private prison owners are all in bed together, and the tools they weild are to keep them on top, and keep us from joining their club. The billionaires themselves may or may not be racist, but either way they cynically use the systemic racism as a tool to manipulate voters. The fact that the policies of their pet politicians have real, tangible effects on American citizens (and the entire planet) is just collateral damage in a class war disguised as a culture war.
