@EverydayMoggie @andrewt @futurebird I probably will check it out. The ads on Youtube are the absolute worst, but I have an ad-blocker so that's not what grinds my gears. It's that stupid algorithm. It insists on trying to show me things that I will hate instead of things I want to watch. I don't know if it's designed to try and get me to "hate-watch", but that won't work on me. It just makes me angry.
And that crappy search engine. It's like "Hey I know you were looking for something else, but remember when you watched this an hour ago? Want to watch it again?"

Well I waste too much time watching stuff anyways. I got rid of youTube for this and others will follow. Not paying OR watching unless I can avoid ads.
Ads are a huge and harmful force on my quality of life. I will go to great ends to avoid them. I also use blockers, naturally, but blockers aren't perfect. (YouTube still has "mid roll" ads even with the best.)

@wdlindsy @cujobyte Every generation learns from the one before. The Cold War propagandists learned from the Nazis. The psychologists learned from the Cold War propagandists, the advertising agencies learned from the psychologists, and now it's coming back around full circle. That's a lot of manipulative power working against our best interests. I'm not particularly optimistic at this point.
