I think people like me spend our lives mainly pissed off, because if we actually felt, the pain of the world would crush us to death.

People who can actually allow themselves to feel that weight of the world--every abused animal, every dying child, every injustice, a planet gasping its last breath--and still manage to confront it head on without that veil of anger, hats off. That takes guts and strength I never had.

I’m playing this first-person open-world game called ‘Life’, and it’s so hard it’s almost unplayable. The character classes are really unbalanced, and you don’t even get to choose one: it’s just assigned when you start playing. They introduced some assists to make things easier (if you can find them buried in the menus), but the elite players complained and they’re being patched out again. Accessibility features for those with disabilities are severely lacking. And it only has permadeath mode.

One reason I support universal benefits (even for the wealthy!) is exactly what you say in this thread: WHEN EVERYONE USES SOMETHING IT BUILDS SUPPORT FOR THAT THING.

If rich people take transit, they will want it to be nice. If rich people want transit to be nice, it will get more funding and become nicer.

If everyone goes to the same schools, people with power have incentives for those schools to be humane and well-funded.

Means testing means more overhead and worse services. It means people left out by mistakes or arbitrary caps. Universal benefits FTW!

On another site, some chud demanded that someone "define a woman" and she replied, "it's a person who covers their drink when they see you in a bar."
