🌐 **Globally**:
Half a century ago, the Left appealed mostly to the poor and uneducated, and the Right to the rich and educated.
Nowadays, supporting leftist parties still correlates with lower income (and supporting the Right with higher income), although that link has weakened.
What's most interesting is that correlation along the “education” axis has _reversed_: today, it is mostly _educated_ people supporting the Left, and _uneducated_ people supporting the Right.
Anyone have an idea of how many Tbps this would be? 17.2M requests/sec sounds like a lot, but even on a normal day Cloudflare handles billions of requests before I'm even up for breakfast.
@freemo Ohh that makes more sense now. Thanks!
Can someone tell me what the difference is between 'subscribe' and 'follow' on #mastodon? The docs seem to only refer to cases where someone is on another platform that doesn't support 'following.'
I understand that if a locked account doesn't approve your follow request you can subscribe instead to see public toots, but is there any other reason to use one over the other?
Real smooth transition there Sean
@skells I can never decide which is worse, them or the Arch forums. So I participate in neither...
@freemo Good points. I assumed a lot about the OP's motive. I would disagree that the rationale behind male circumcision is purely cosmetic, but I'm not sure it really matters. That rationalization doesn't stand out to me as being better than any of the others I've heard. And of course I do concede that it's less terrible than something like clitoridectomy.
@freemo Worth a chuchle at least.
Interesting though how in this scenario wearing masks and removing statues of confederate traitors (which, I assume, is what they're really talking about) is equivalent to performing unnecessary surgery on a male child's genitals.
Also, Islam is currently the largest religious group that mandates circumcision.
Safe to say I analyzed that one to death haha.

Where was this when I was a kid?
Side note: It's weird to think that we have been at war for so long that there are fully grown adults for whom this is just a historical fact, without context or obvious significant relevance to today's problems.
Friendly reminder that while we're bickering over whether #Trump or #Biden are at fault for #Afghanistan it was #GeorgeBush, #Cheney, and #Rumsfeld who decided to invade in the first place.

@brandon I'm on android so I can't test it, but yea if it's as twitter-y as it sounds it's probably very boring. In that case why not just stay with twitter? The privacy argument always falls on deaf ears anyway.
