Although I started using OpenSUSE Leap w/ KVM as my hypervisor after Red Hat murdered CentOS. Rocky and Alma hadn't been released yet. Instead of reinstalling with a RHEL clone I might just keep OpenSUSE on that machine, it's been pretty solid.

@omniscion I'll admit I chuckled. I guess just FYI for anyone that thinks this adds some kind of privacy... Snapchat does save all communication for a minimum of 30 days. They use it for everything from data harvesting to complying with court orders. Your friends can't see it anymore but the algorithm knows all.

@valleyforge I don't know of any extra special meaning but it seems to fit Bryant's character. If you're looking for symbolism, he's the type of guy who views tracking down "skinjobs" as a big game, or hunt. The base of the lamp is also a rhino foot which would literally have come from a big game hunt.

@freemo A bit of a non sequitur, my brain is all over the place today, it oddly reminded me that the only only ethnic/racial/religious group in the US that doesn't primarily date within itself is the Irish.

@realcaseyrollins Not really, the *.win sites kind of struck me as being in the same boat as lemmy. Just the right wing version. Regardless of my own politics, I don't see any benefit in trading a walled garden for an echo chamber.

Lotide doesn't seem to have the political baggage, but it doesn't seem to have anything going for it either. It's pretty new though too so I don't want to be too harsh. I'm interested to see how things go for them.

@freemo I don't know the proper ActivityPub lingo but that's how it comes up there. I had seen you talking groups earlier. It seems like with forums on Friendica you can't see previous posts, only those since you started following... But you probably know better than I would.

@freemo Playing around with adding some QOTO groups on my Friendica account and it seems to work, it adds them as 'forums' in my contacts, guess I'll see if they actually populate with posts or not.

@freemo That's likely true. I want to be clear that I'm not making excuses for Biden specifically, nor am I specifically condemning Trump for that matter. Like I said, modern presidents in general take a lot of time off. I'm not any happier with the trend Biden is setting than you are but it's not really something new. Going back to the Bush 2 example, which is admittedly a bit of an outlier, the guy only actually worked a little over 5 out of the 8 years he was president. Trump by comparison spent over 1 out of 4 years on vacation, and Obama less than 1 of 8 years. No matter how you slice it, even presidents who take the fewest vacations still take way more time off than us lowly citizens are allowed.
