@Mogami Yea that's probably the more accurate statement. And "creators" are even more obtuse about trying something new because they might lose followers. Which I guess I understand if you've put a lot of work into an account so idk 🤷‍♂️ It's not like I have a good solution either...

@Mogami It's just so strange to me that someone can be so dissatisfied with a product but keep coming back to it. I hesitate to call it gaslighting, but have to admit it's a pretty nice setup twitter and FB have contrived for themselves where they're considered the only viable social platforms.

Always strange to me when I see people bitching about twitter (while on twitter), yet they don't care to hear about alternatives like mastodon. It's like they keep expecting twitter to be something it's not, but the idea of leaving or even simply trying something else just doesn't compute.

@tindall@cybre.space It was smart of him to email the CEO. It might sound like a ridiculous thing to do but it does actually work sometimes. CEOs don't even care what the problem is, you could be completely unreasonable and still get results. Source: worked in customer service, have witnessed mid level managers go into a panic over an email from the c-suite.

@freemo Sure, I agree with that. I'm referring to the more general notion that religion is above repudiation in the name of tolerance. I'll give a more concrete example. I am against both male and female circumcision. To me, they're both genital mutilation (although one is obviously worse than the other). Yet, there are religions that promote both these acts.

It's not a topic that comes up often of course but I've had people ask, what about Judaism or Islam? Isn't male circumcision part of their religion? The implication being that the practice is beyond reproach because it is religious in nature. It's those kinds of mental gymnastics that don't compute for me, whereby 'the left' approves of actions they would otherwise find objectionable, just because it's part of someone's religious beliefs.

@freemo At least you know where the white supremacists stand, even if they're irreconcilably stupid. I've always been a little baffled by the American left's brand of tolerance. Criticism of religious beliefs, for example, is impossible under the guise of tolerance, regardless of how intolerant or harmful the belief itself is. Sorry but a shitty idea is still shitty regardless of it's packaging.

Update: I was able to enroll my own keys using the UEFI menu instead of KeyTool. UEFI ver. 1.11. Lenovo still hasn't even acknowledged the issue that I know of so I'd assume it's still possible to brick the motherboard this way. Make sure to do everything in the right order (PK last!). Any attempt is at your own risk as Lenovo considers it customer induced damage if it goes wrong.

@worldsendless I use their servers and pay the $10/yr for extra features like totp. A free account gets you a really solid password manager, and unlike others you can be logged in on multiple devices, but I like the product and it's a way to support an open source project. In addition to passwords you can also save credit card info, ID info like driver's license or passport, and notes. I don't use the secure notes feature much but I can see how it'd be useful for a group/corporate account. Thought about self hosting but decided against it. It would save me the $10 but I don't want to lose access to my passwords when the power goes out at home or stuff like that. Their encryption is also pretty solid. I primarily use the app on my phone or the Firefox extension but there's also a desktop version (inc. Linux) or you can use the 'web vault' (aka just log in on the website). If you have any specific questions I'll answer them as best I can but that's kind of a high level word salad overview.
