Been doing a #ChemDraw workshop where I specifically show students how *not* to do it, and ask them to count the errors and then try to fix them.
Avert your eyes organic chemists, the example will cause you pain.

I have one password that's 99 random characters long, because the 20 character random generated password that my password manager suggested only filled up the security bar by 75%, so I kept increasing the length of the password to see what it would take to fill it up all the way and 99 characters with the longest password it would take and that still didn't register as completely secure....
@Rhodium103 @steph What type of account for ChatGTP do you use? For the last two weeks whenever I tried to use it, there was a "ChatGPT is at capacity right now" message popping up...
@steph Your ancient ACS Material just made me think of the ACS Style Guide, or as it is currently called "ACS Guide to Scholarly communication". Section 1.9 is on patents and contains a fair bit of useful info.

@steph This is 10 years old, but still provides a good overview of the basics: https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/chapter/bk9781849735513-00053/978-1-84973-551-3 Chapter 5 (p 142) has a tiny section on Markush, but not enough for what people should know.
@steph It never hurts ro hear about them, but to many it feels very daunting. Are you thinking of specific topics already? Are you looking for contributions?

I was thinking about putting together a list of resources for chemistry students who want to learn more about patent searching and setting up alerts, but I think most chemists already get at least a bit of exposure to patents… unlike the biologists. 🤷🏻♀️ #chemtoots #chemtwitter #chemiverse

I've been studying leadership since I decided to go from lab bench to manager (because I thought I could get more science done that way). I've learned that the management style with the most evidence to recommend it is people-centered and supportive. That gets it labeled "feminine" and undervalued, but it is also my own instinctive style and so now I'm out to master and promote it. If that helps me to be a better feminist/ally, so much the better. 😀
@kdnyhan I once shared an apartment with 2 friends for over a year. Once moved out, I still visited every once in a while. During one of those visits, I discovered a kitchen drawer within a pullout cabinet, that I had never seen before. That's where my friends stored the lesser-used gear, that I was always wondering why we did not have it... #chemistswhocook

I just realized that my juicer (which I've used for 8 years) has a movable spout, so that I can juice a grapefruit into my glass, pop the spout up, drink the juice in the glass, and come back to refill.
I also lived in my last apartment for 3 years before I realized that the inset bathroom mirror swung out for storage.
