I have tried following a number of #Mastodon accounts only to be told that my request is awaiting approval. Some of these accounts have been like that for a number of weeks, to the best of my knowledge the accounts are not private. What would you advise doing in such a situation?

@bibliolater Sometimes when that has happened to me I’ve just cancelled the request and tried again, usually it goes right through. (If it is an open account, your account is not silenced on the instance and so on).
@bibliolater There's nothing *to* do. These accounts don't owe anyone a prompt decision ont their follow requests, or any decision at all, even though they stand to lose potential followers doing it.
