@proseandpassion Why would anyone really need a ‘Chelsea tractor’ in a congested urban environment when their connection to the countryside is at best minimal is beyond me.
@proseandpassion For a certain cohort of owners you are probably correct. There is another cohort that I have seen, those who use the vehicle as a status symbol and a way of expressing their inner id.
@bibliolater yes those I count as a given, they would have bought sport cars before and endangered us in subtly different ways ...
@bibliolater when I stare at them furiously I often spot a driver who may be feeling vulnerable (small, elderly, woman, and/or minority) so my guess is that the extra safety for people inside is a key motif, even though it is bought at the expense of the safety of everybody else outside the vehicle. Which is why I really think we need to #banSUVs because otherwise ppl will always choose their own safety over that of others.
