Stil new to Mastodon, so I don't fully understand how search works.

Today I learned something that may be a game changer:

When I search for "#python" or "python" in the search box, I get no useful results.

But if I manually change the URL to "mastodon.social/tags/python" I get results for #Python not only from this instance, but loads of others, too.

I bet there's a better way to search for tags, but until I find it, this is good enough for me to make Mastodon a lot more interesting.

@mborus I think it’s related to your server, and perhaps being overloaded at the moment. I can’t find certain posts on .social that I can find elsewhere (or they are slow to populate?) and the searching is hit or miss there, but when I search on another instance it is faster and more complete. I tried searching on several instances yesterday, and .social consistently gave me the worst results. I’m glad it wasn’t just me!
