Facebook is like chinese army against foreigner, they need to check you once in a while (based on ip) - that you still own the account.

maybe posting on another social media and then just pipe it out to facebook via ifttt can still give 'sign of breathing' to my family and just then let them know to ping me in other side of the isle.
