@roboneko
I don't think I've ever seen a restaurant that had pancakes.
@Awoo this is so weird to me. do you never visit small breakfast cafe type places? around here those usually offer pancakes

there are even some places open 24/7 that have them on the menu
@roboneko
I don't think we have any breakfast cafes where I live. Only place off the top of my head that sells pancakes is McDonalds.

@Awoo :noa_shock: but if you want to go out to eat for breakfast then where do you go?
@roboneko
There might be somewhere with a breakfast menu. But that would be stuff like scrambled eggs with sausages and bacon. Not pancakes.
@Awoo

> that would be stuff like scrambled eggs with sausages and bacon. Not pancakes.

:hyperconfused: but those go together. something like pancakes, bacon, and eggs served together as one item

other things often on the menu include hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, grits (not as common in the west), stuff involving breaded chicken, and stuff involving fruit and yogurt

oh and if you're lucky sometimes they'll have chicken fried steak :ablobdrool:

:puniko_sigh: thinking about this made me hungry

@roboneko @Awoo "cold cuts". You have special names for normal breakfast?
@yangwenli
Cold cuts refers to things like sliced ham and turkey that are cold. As opposed to cutting it off a recently cooked (and still warm) ham.
@roboneko
@dushman
The same kind of people that eat twelve pancakes for breakfast. :awoo_shrug2:
@roboneko @yangwenli
@dushman
No one was talking about cooking ham for breakfast. I was explaining what was meant by the term "cold cut"
@roboneko @yangwenli
@dushman @Awoo @yangwenli they're in the image up thread. some euros have them at breakfast iiuc

for the record biscuits and gravy is always the correct answer :ablobdrool:
@dushman @Awoo @yangwenli those would be called crêpes here. people here will typically put all sorts of random toppings on them and roll it up. pancakes where I am exclusively refers to the thick fluffy variety
@yangwenli @Awoo @dushman I'm accustomed to crepes at lunch with some fairly heavy toppings that include meat but some people here will have lighter variants for breakfast

too much work tho imo. pancakes are easier to make
@roboneko @Awoo @yangwenli
Wdym? I can make them in like 15 minutes. Just slap some jam or cottage cheese on them, easy.
@dushman @Awoo @roboneko he wasnt talking about the prepackaged ones you get at a grocery store and then heat up in your microwave 🤮
@dushman @Awoo @yangwenli if it's ready to go dry mix I just keep adding water until it's the consistency I want

@roboneko @Awoo @yangwenli @dushman really, try doing it from eggs flour and milk, it's worth it :) also, fry in butter, butter is love 💖

@bonifartius @bonifartius @Awoo @yangwenli @dushman I have. I prefer the box mix because it has skim milk in it and otherwise it's the same as what I'd make myself. also you forgot baking powder
Follow

@roboneko @Awoo @yangwenli @dushman for completeness sake the recipe i use is 4 eggs, 300 ml milk, 300g wheat flour and a pinch of salt. don't know how much that is in freedom units.
