@husarones@social.dev-wiki.de i know the plot. i think it's neither original nor interesting. it's themes are present in one or more of the others. it is just included to appease "feminist" (yes, the one in scarequotes) zeitgeist - the same zeitgeist comparing handmaids tale to "no abortions with no questions asked", which obviously is bullshit.

@bonifartius
Are you sure? I don't see the main theme included in the other three. The main theme is imo a radical increase of female infertility (and how to compensate for that).
But I think
@husarones missed "The Method" (German: Corpus Delicti: Ein Prozess) in the diagram.

@blueplanetslittlehelper
i think brave new world is close enough, from wikipedia:

> Lenina Crowne, a young, beautiful fetus technician at the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre. Lenina Crowne is a Beta who enjoys being a Beta. She is a vaccination worker with beliefs and values that are in line with a citizen of the World State. She is part of the 30% of the female population that are not freemartins (sterile women).

> Freemartins, women who have been deliberately made sterile by exposure to male hormones during fetal development but still physically normal except for "the slightest tendency to grow beards." In the book, government policy requires freemartins to form 70% of the female population.

different cause, but as a plot device it serves the same purpose. "breedable" females are increased in "value" and are for the rich and powerful.

in handmaids tale the dystopia is the backdrop, not the centrepiece. at least from my point of view.

@bonifartius
O.k. I didn't know the story before and it seems I didn't read long enough, sorry. Using "artificial wombs" instead of degrading the few fertile woman as tools is only a different solution to the same problem.
Maybe "corpus delicti" instead? @husarones

Follow

@blueplanetslittlehelper i haven't read corpus delicti, sounds interesting though
