(idiocy in) politics

I've mostly turned my back on politics as I got annoyed too much about IMO bad choices.
If you're very charitable, you could say "we didn't think of that"/"that's an unintended side-effect"/etc.

Enter "The market for emission rights"
where if you want to emit more, you have to buy additional rights to do so.

A company (Schiphol) did exactly that and now the politician's are up in arms:
"it's like the wild west where the person with the most money can do what they want"

(idiocy in) politics

There is no amount of 'charitableness' that can explain that away.
That was literally and intentionally the whole purpose of the system.

I won't spend (more) time to look it up, but I'm 95+% certain that Schiphol was literally used as an example when they created the law(s).

Is there really no limit to politicians stupidity and idiocy?
And 'we' (no longer including me) keep re-electing them? :-/
