I would unironically welcome the federal government intervening in my loneliness and isolation. I have no friends, I don't know how to make friends...let alone date. I'm not socially awkward or strange, it's just my social life got obliterated and my livelihood makes it hard to meet people locally. All my friends from before are spread out across the country and when I found it necessary to start making new friends it's as though everyone became totally alienated and social gathering spots dried up---its all apps now. Dating? App. Friends? App. There's no organic meeting folks and hanging out and knowing people IRL. Download an app!

US Surgeon General calls for action regarding the ongoing 'epidemic of loneliness and isolation' https://abcnews.go.com/Health/us-surgeon-general-c...

@adiz sorry to hear that! still, i think places like that are still the best place. after all, the people going there likely have the same dislike of apps ;)

@bonifartius@qoto.org To be honest, every time I go to a pub or bar it's not people in my age bracket. It's a lot of retired boomers. And no chicks. But I should try to go out more, you're right. I live on the road though, and can't stay out late before getting ready for the next day.

@adiz i'm not really good with the people game too, it's just what has given me at least some results in the past ;)

also give the retired boomers a chance, maybe you find one that is nice? ;)
