@McMongoose german normies from gen x are really bad at english, millenials aren't much better. while they maybe can order fries, coke and a burger in english if they _really_ need to, they usually go out of their way to not consume foreign languages things.

no, it isn't bad in itself to not use foreign languages. i would argue though that reading and writing foreign languages is good. there always is information only available in certain languages and i think it's a nice "stimulation" for the brain.
it's bad when the discourse is as biased as it is in germany. memes can be made by anyone, are pretty effective at transporting ideas and are easy to share. there are just so many good ones in english, and i think at least some can be translated without forcing it.
