if this is true, what should the therapist have said instead: "oh no anon, you have to take your meds despite serious side effects which make you even more depressed!!1", "oh no anon, you can't mull over the idea to kys at some distant point in the future!!1"?
which _again_ feeds into the learned helplessness. ffs, the first thing anon went to is a shitty internet forum of people circlejerking about their shit lives and how they can't probably change things. completely missing the point that anon manages to do fitness and go to therapy. can't undo a lifetime of shit in half a year.
imo the only sane thing is to say that anon has to decide these things for themself - given the sucidality isn't acute which in this case it doesn't seem to be.
@ceo_of_monoeye_dating it's 5th hand, but it doesn't seem that he said it's a good option. he said that in the end it's the patients decision to choose. not handing a form for MAID.
i don't know the specific forum, but i have seen so much circlejerk going on in the net regarding mental issues it's not funny. people defining their whole personality through their issues.
non conventional is likely good, i won't argue there. ssri are probably doing more harm than help, if they help at all.
cognitive behavioral therapy is more or less someone who motivates you to get your shit together by doing stuff - if someone in the gym does that for you that's fine too. if it's peterson repeatedly telling you to clean your room bucko that's fine as well if it in the end fixes the problem.
i know fedi hates therapeuts but it's a bullshit take to say that any form of therapy is bad out of principle.
Oh, the specific forum is Sanctioned Suicide. Talking about suicide on a suicide forum is normal, it's hard to say this individual is defining himself by his mental issues.
>i know fedi hates therapeuts but it's a bullshit take to say that any form of therapy is bad out of principle.
It's hardly a principled stance. I'd not be saying such things in a society with therapists who do not delight in pushing their patients to harm themselves. However, narcissists and psychopaths take up the job for the sake of having a steady stream of victims, and they receive them.
I'm not suggesting people avoid therapy because I think it's a sign of weakness, or that you should work on your problems on your own. In fact, I think quite the opposite - in a healthy society, reaching your hand out for help is a sign of strength! However, we do not live in such a society - we must warn people to avoid this particular evil.
