"Enshittification" has become a catch-all for saying a "company has turned shitty" which is not a useful or new concept.
@Moon the main context I've heard it in is complete centralization of the web which normies are just starting to wrap their head around. It's finally starting to fuck the lefties too after so long of them advocating for it.

There was a talk at defcon this year about it and the speakers unironic position is that job biden will save us all.
@RustyCrab The original definition was something like, venture capital pumps up a company by dumping a ton of money into it and when the money runs out they have to constantly degrade the product to stay afloat, which is kind of a useful concept.

Defcon isn't dead, it's not even skinsuited exactly, it's just the larger hacker community sucks now broadly speaking.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @RustyCrab @Moon
i'm not sure _how_ it exactly happened but euro hacker culture changed from being anarchist in spirit into being like communist secret police in a bit more than a decade. i think it really started to go into free-fall in the early 2010s.

@RustyCrab @Moon @noyoushutthefuckupdad tbh i just didn't expect people who can do really cool hacks being _that_ retarded and prone to collectivism in exchange for some good boi points.
