@theorytoe The author states she wants to make Fedi "fun" but the proposed solutions clearly ruin the fun. These people contradict them selves frequently and often in the same paragraph, and even same sentence. I feel bad for these people. I don't even feel like mocking them anymore.

@fearisfreedom @theorytoe "fun" for these people is brainless consumption of their allotted subculture - like "nerdy" stuff, but you can insert many more in it's place. they explicitly want no dissonance as they never learned how to deal with it. they also seek to actively destroy places which are more open via CoCs and things like blocklists.

maybe their fun even is the destruction itself, much like in the tolkien quote.

@bonifartius
I don't think they take pleasure in ruining the fun, they just don't seem to realize that having fun is incompatible with building a safe space, that not getting bland and predictable reactions IS part of fun, that when others prefer not hurting their feeling over stating their opinion openly, they often go with not saying anything at all instead of navigating the minefield. But somehow they still want to have their cake and eat it too.
It also has nothing to do with being transgender like many here seem to think — it's just what a lot of people want to normalize nowadays. This girl who went to a Rammstein show is a perfect example of this — she's a 100% real "biological" girl, but she seems to have the same kind of thinking. She went to a rock show, she had been selected for a private afterparty, she went there, she had a few drinks, then she had been offered to have sex, but she refused and no one tried forcing her into it, then she probably passed out at some point and when she woke up she somehow realized that she had been drugged, but she took some tests which were negative — and to be honest, even judging by her own recollection of events, it didn't look like it. I have a very good alcohol tolerance: I can't drink a litre of something strong like vodka and sure, I won't be able to solve differential equations after that, but I'd still think somewhat clear — and yet, even I know that sparkling wine mixed with strong alcohol is something you should be extremely careful with as it can get to your head real fast — and that of course is exactly what she was drinking.
I've been discussing this particular case with a friend of mine who is also a 100% percent real girl, she even has her own kid now, and she still thinks that Till Lindemann should be punished for this and if I don't agree with it, then, I'm just "defending him because I'm also a man". See how fucked up this is? And I don't even think that Till Lindemann is a nice man — on the contrary, I think that he's an absolute garbage of a person, but in no way it means that he should go to jail for that. And I don't even think that anything out of the ordinary happened to that girl — it's not even some of the crazy grouppie shit, she just got drunk. I mean what did she expect when she went to a private afterparty with alcohol — that she'd be shown a pony? "Maybe she just wanted to get an autograph?"— my friend says, but that is no reason to go to the afterparty and have alcohol, there are autograph sessions for that. And if she just wanted to have tea with a band, she could go to see a local nerdy folkband's gig, not stadium rock show — yet very few girls seem to prefer that. They want to go rock'n'roll and do dangerous shit, they just don't want to deal with the consequences — even when those are pretty mild compared to what I could expect.
People get convinced that they should be able to do anything, but somehow that they should still be safe at all times. All around the world, grown up people. People who are right in their head — it's not some disorder we are talking about here.

counterpoint: the fediblock crew exists and they are in to ruin the fun for people they deem the enemy.

agreed, there are likely also people who probably didn't think it through. it probably never occurred to them that handling these things themselves might be the correct solution - our whole school and state system is teaching helplessness and reliance on phony authorities.

> It also has nothing to do with being transgender like many here seem to think — it's just what a lot of people want to normalize nowadays.

i'm not sure how "trans" got into here. there is a sizable group of "trans identifing" people here on fedi who are acting like assholes ruining the fun and a smaller group of trans people who just wants to shitpost and to be left alone like everyone else.

> *insert rammstein story arc* ;)

agreed.

regarding your friend: would be interesting what _she_ thinks lindemann did wrong specifically and how _she_ would penalize him for this. "he should be punished" is a bullshit appeal to authority.

they are _by definition_ not right in the head. they are refusing to acknowledge the logical consequences of their actions. they are apparently unable to do risk-reward calculations, which is a basic function of higher animals.
