I think one of the reasons why we are re-discovering stuff that were done in the 60~80s again and again in because IT education went away from mathematics.

@mangeurdenuage most courses here in germany which aren't pure computer science (things like economy computer science etc.) don't even include theoretical computer science anymore :)
