@cjd @dcc @FourOh-LLC We need a licensing scheme that's like GPL except even more strict (e.g. explicitly forbid selling the code itself and products/services based on the code), and we need those guys who sued random corporations for GPL violations 10 years back to come back on the scene and be even more deranged.
Companies should be afraid to use open source code that they didn't write themselves, and developers need to learn to never contribute to a codebase that has a "community edition" and a "plus/pro/enterprise/business/etc. edition"
Of course, for that to work would require a functioning justice system that doesn't turn an increasingly blind eye the bigger the violating company is.

@vic @dcc @FourOh-LLC @cjd i don't think corporations should be afraid of using free software, they should be afraid of cheating. making money with free software is perfectly fine if they give me the sourcecode.
every software with a "community" edition is very likely overengineeredcargo cult trash anyway, at least in my experience. then, about 90% of the developer and "devops" tools of the last decade fall into the "overengineered cargo cult trash" category.
