@cowanon yes, outside time always is good for the mind. thanks for the post!
(this is in part an answer to a post of you in another thread but i figured i keep this here)
i found that i always have to police my ideas and personality in other places. i was banned from some places for absolute bullshit reasons. it's their place, sure, but fuck em if they can't take a joke. i don't tend to be overly aggressive, but i like edgy jokes. those tend to be fine here (except on those extra-politically-correct german instances :)
i think it grates more on me if i have the feeling that i have to play a role all the time. i just mute people and block instances who annoy me. i at times have just posted a rant and muted everyone not agreeing. it's liberating ;)
maybe just try to engage less? it's a bit like the university talk we had a while back: you have to choose your battles.
i don't think you want an echo chamber, you just want a place with no idiots. which doesn't exist of course.
maybe just quitting this shit is the best idea. i had this feeling too, yesterday. just not worth it. on the other hand, i'd have gone mad without fedi during the big covid scare.
i really don't know.
New #blog post: Stylometric fingerprinting redux.
Avoid de-anonymization through analysis of your writing style. Defend against machine- and human-driven stylometric identification.
This is an expanded version of a previous microblog about stylometric fingerprinting. Feedback welcome, esp. from anyone with a stylometry or linguistic close-reading background. Excerpt:
To paint with a broad brush, we can divide most stylometric fingerprinting into machine- and human-driven techniques.
Machine-driven techniques: These techniques involve analysis of reading level metrics, unusual words, machine-identifiable grammatical and spelling errors, and statistical analysis of writing style. A great amount of recent research studies statistical analysis of writing style; it’s a rapidly-evolving field. Human-driven techniques: There are some areas in which manual analysis still beats computers. Someone you know may recognize your writing style.
@useless_idiot @ThatCrazyDude only Paint of Color from now on.

don't only rely on my words, read what happy customers wrote about me: "10/10 would buy again", "top seller, great value", "wildly incorrect", "teil des problems", "without imagination", "Repeated provocation using copy/paste.", "if you take a dump in my mentions, I just might notice the smell", "log out and never login again", "Du redest wirr.", "My brother in Christ, this is such a ridiculously dumb statement that I will no longer entertain this silly conversation.", "Auf Derailing-Diskussionen habe ich keine Lust.
