@Chronotope @dushman @bonifartius I don't mind letting admin decide who or what to block. I am against them blindly outsourcing this task to strangers. The block list in question seems to at best be irresponsible, at worst toxic. So I'm glad I have a good admin who isn't using it—but I am disappointed that users of other, less discerning instances, will now be deprived unnecessarily of possibly meaningful connections because of the capricious whims of randoms.
@Chronotope the point isn't that blocking as a tool is bad but weaponized blocklists are evil. servers end up on blocklists for fabricated reasons and then it gets cargo culted from there on. ffs, you can end up on these lists because you don't use the list.
it's just evil shit tbh. hell, almost every free speech instance blocked on these lists have rules against doxing while the wokies pushing these list _love_ to dox their enemies.
it's very clear to me who are the good guys, and it's not the list creators.

@daeyoung @dimi idk, we brought this upon ourselves. people adopted google shit after google shit until it was too late.
i use FF now, but it really isn't the browser which is good. it's stuff like tree style tab - which worked much better under the old ui. it's a shame that vivaldi is closed source, the usability features are pretty nice.
i think my biggest disappointment is that the old opera engine never was open sourced. that would have been pretty great. the same for the edge engine they now switched out for blink. imagine how the landscape would be if there were four feature rich open sourced/free software engine families now instead of two.
it really is a sad story.

Early you gave Taylor Lorenz a warm welcome and an explanation of the Fediverse. But she's also the person who doxed LibsOfTikTok. If you don't know, LibsOfTikTok simply showed the worst excesses of liberalism on TikTok including gender cult bullshit. They exposed teachers talking about all manner of perverse crap and got them rightfully fired.
I don't know how this sits with you being on team radfem and also being against doxers like KiwiFarms.

@dimi imho firefox is a dumpster fire ever since they did the new UI in 2018 (iirc). they should have concentrated on the engine and improving it with the rust stuff they had going, they chose destroying a totally functional UI, virtue signalling and buying bullshit stuff like pocket.
@taylan german radio is ultra woke crew, what do you expect.
