i can't do pumped hydro here, there's not enough elevation and building storage is likely too expensive.
https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/low-tech-solutions.html has pretty nice solutions, some are hard to rig into existing things though.
the compressed air storage (https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/2018/05/ditch-the-batteries-off-grid-compressed-air-energy-storage.html) is interesting because it works without elevation. unfortunately you have a bomb in your yard then :)

Look, I don't know what the alternative looks like, but maybe we should aim to have an educational system that doesn't result in millions of people having recurring nightmares about forgetting to study for an exam for the rest of their entire lives???

those are quite iconic :) it's interesting that you don't see those things often here in europe. maybe it's too easy to just run an electric line to things because of the shorter distances.
guess the biggest obstacle for me is building a good enough tower! that is what is nice about those fancy upright ones, they work closer to the ground.
