I still have my copy of "Project Oberon: Design of an Operating System and Compiler" by Niklaus Wirth and Jürg Gutknecht.
The book is more than a tribute to Wirth and a manifesto of his life and work. It's also a fine piece of system design documentation and technical writing.

Feature Request: Everybody of a certain age limit knows and loves the sound and visuals of a degaussing CRT screen.
There should be a button in the far right corner of the task bar, near the clock, that makes that screen wave and makes that mmrrooiimmph sound over the speaker.
It should be a de facto standard for all desktops, even if they don't have a task bar.
Only then will Linux be ready for the desktop.

@freemo @freeschool sure it might be wildly incorrect, yes. the servers i checked in the past were mostly correct though.
i think that the trend of not displaying which servers are blocked is more damaging with regard to the sociological l aspect of a federated network than a tool displaying wrong data might be.
in the end it's just tiresome.

most seem to block because they don't like free speech, even if it's polite like on qoto. or because we federate with "bad people".
