@Seirdy I'm not sure if it's a common ADHD thing but I tend to select and deselect text frequently while reading on websites, so sites that have pop-up UI when text is selected, or where there's a click handler somewhere in the text content hierarchy are awful for me. I've seen this a few times with sites trying to provide "helpful" tools for using the text selection. I hate it.
I’d like to request some more accessibility related feedback for my post, “Best practices for inclusive textual websites”. Specifically from neurodivergent people, especially from people with ADHD, dyscalculia, dyslexia, and sensitivity to overstimulation. What makes websites annoying to you? You don’t need to read the article to give feedback; I’m all ears.
If you do want to give it a read but find it too long, feel free to skip ahead to the “What contrast algorithms don’t cover: over-saturation” section to see what I already have on the topic: I cover the complex overlap between contrast algorithms, over-saturated colors, emergency colors (yellow, red), dark themes, halation, and over-stimulation.
A topic I hope to cover soon is reduced-motion and vestibular disorders.
Boosts welcome. #accessibility
- getting the wording of point 1 of the coc absolutely water-tight is critical. it was fine in the previous qoto tos, but when you apply it to a broader scale that a federation of servers is "Hate-based racism, sexism, and other hateful speech,[...]" isn't going to cut it. everything can be hateful speech with enough twisting. ideally it would be something like from hacker ethics: "Hackers should be judged by their hacking, not bogus criteria such as degrees, age, race, or position.". then, meritocracy has fallen from grace.
- put down what the expected response time for moderation is. people sleep, have other things to do, etc. you can't always have a moderation in place after an hour.

There is one type of cybersecurity person who drives me absolutely crazy, might-just-block.gif, and it is the one who looks at any friendly and sociable internet trend that involves something that could be potentially used as a password reset question (no, I'm not talking about the fuckery like tricking people into posting their credit cards), and ruins the fun. They are the Fun Ruiner Pedant (tm).
"Don't talk about your favorite foods!"
"Don't talk about movies you like!"
"Don't talk about important moments on in your life!"
"Don't post your mom's obit, it has her maiden name!"
It's not peoples' fault that password reset methodology is fundamentally flawed, archaic, and ridiculously insecure. That's our problem to fix. And for god's sakes, everybody in infosec social spheres already knows their threat model around this information. Those are totally normal things for human beings to talk about in friendly conversation. So let's get to fixing the problems by making account security questions and processes less utterly ridiculous. It's almost 2023.
@furgar this sounds like the NES soccer game. only needs the crazy trick shots too!

you know i'm in the free speech camp, but this is a good draft. things get formalized properly and it's not based on "feelings" and "blocked because i have a bad day". i may have some points but i need to think about them first :)

state licensed lolbert and hypernatalist with a breeding kink. never watched rick & morty and i'm proud of it.
don't only rely on my words, read what happy customers wrote about me: "10/10 would buy again", "top seller, great value", "wildly incorrect", "teil des problems", "without imagination", "Repeated provocation using copy/paste.", "if you take a dump in my mentions, I just might notice the smell", "log out and never login again", "Du redest wirr.", "My brother in Christ, this is such a ridiculously dumb statement that I will no longer entertain this silly conversation.", "Auf Derailing-Diskussionen habe ich keine Lust. Finger über dem Blocken-Knopf.", "Wie gesagt, du kannst der Diskussion inhaltlich nicht folgen."
