@mangeurdenuage i remember reading an article about assisted dying in a magazine my parents had when i was ~10. it gave me really bad vibes. something about the oh so humane front combined with the "press here to die" flipside is deeply wrong.

The Turing Test poisoned the minds of generations of AI enthusiasts, because its criteria is producing text that persuades observers it was written by a human.
The result? Generative AI text products designed to "appear real" rather than produce accurate or ethical outputs.
It *should* be obvious why it's problematic to create a piece of software that excels at persuasion without concern for accuracy, honesty or ethics. But apparently it's not.
@freemo @ufoi i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask right now:
how are "alternates" of a user handled with UFoI, especially when it's an alternate not on a UFoI instance? are accounts the moderated item or the people themselves?
the previous blocklists always had some entries like "alternate of $baduser" and alike.
i could rephrase the question as: is the target to keep timelines clean or is the target to cancel a person - even if some alternates aren't posting things against the rules.
