Back when I was much younger I had a thing with a nerdy girl. It was a lot of fun, but it was also a reminder that there are more things to being compatible than just hobbies and interests. I ended up marrying a nice Christian girl (which at the time I did not see coming) because although she and I didn't share any interests, there were a lot of more fundamental things that we did share and that helped us get along very well.
@Moon gotosocial is really just badly glued libraries. the AP part is a library, and the other stuff just seems to be handling of media (5%) and fancy html effects (95%).
i'd venture gotosocial will be dead in the water soon anyway.

@filippo you have to block things to comply with local laws. e.g. pawoo is regularly blocked because of certain drawings which might be fine in japan but will your server raided in europe.

wo sind meine projekte? ehrlich? vermutlich in meiner depression xD
im übrigen: in einem staat in dem irgendwas um 50% eines einkommens in sozialsysteme wandern in denen der großteil des geldes für den erhalt der verwaltung verbrannt wird ist die forderung nach mehr "ehrenamt" im übrigen ungefähr so elegant wie ins gesicht spucken. das können viele einfach garnicht mehr leisten. dürfen sie denn trotzdem noch was sagen?
wenn dann noch das risiko besteht, das irgendein projekt in das ich mein herzblut gesteckt habe von irgendwem runiert wird der irgendeine politische agenda durchdrücken will - siehe aktuell z.B. mastodon.lol - dann hab _ich_ einfach keine motivation mehr.
ich warte einfach drauf das der karren an die wand fährt, kann ja nicht mehr lange dauern! derweil mach mein ding für mich alleine und bestenfalls in meinem nahen umfeld.

@nexus_plasma die ÖR sollen bitte so weitermachen. ungesehen von (leider auch meiner..) woken millenialgeneration wenden sich grade viele >50 komplett von den ÖR ab. da hat keiner mehr bock. letztens kam eine anrufersendung, dort eine eloquente dame um die 80 die charmant die maskenpflicht und coronapolitik zerlegt hat 🍾

@gcrkrause i think people seriously need to relearn two things after the last years: risk estimation and choosing to take risks, facing the consequences of actions.
from what i gather this years fosdem was also done online, why not participate there? risk free option. why impose _your_ risk assesment on others? clearly the covid measures of the last years didn't work all that well after all, or we wouldn't have any problem by now.
regarding sexism, giving up meritocracy for whatever hell of rules people think up also doesn't work. might well be that there could be more keynotes from minorities. a free conference - any conference you didn't organize yourself - is the absolute wrong tree to bark up at. i don't even like fosdem all that much as it reeks of corporate "open source" money instead if proper free software.
the politicization of software by whatever criteria is the current thing will kill free software first, as seen by the cancel attempt on RMS, and open source next as the licenses permit it easily.
politicizing everything doesn't make you morally superior so that you can blame everything on everyone else.
