@ambulocetus thanks! luckily i almost never have to deal with blocked stuff just from using sane dns resolvers :)

@Sophistifunk regrettably yes, driving me nuts. people here can be dissidents in one thing and be absolutely retarded freedomhaters in other regards without any problem with this dissonance.

what's really missing in germany are true libertarians who just let others live their lives in peace.

@undertake72 @LordMordred if you are searching "non-left instances" you're going to end up seeing "Free Speech" you will see nazi flags, you will see uncomfortable themes and stuff you dont normally see in a walled garden. something tells me what you want is a left mastodon instance where stuff other than just illegal speech is heavily policed

I used my plein air kit to paint this while waiting forever for an appointment. I love lavender and green together. I used tape to separate the sky from the lake, first painting blue, then when dry the mountains and trees, then repeat in the lake and foreground. Colors: Cobalt Blue, Green Gold, Hansa, Alizarin. Brushes: a 6 and a small Chinese script. #watercolor #watercolour #art #landscape

People should remember that BookWyrm is *not* free software.

"We live in a democracy, the people get to decide."
"Okay, the people want Hitler"
"Uh acksyally that's dangerous to our democracy and you can't pick that so we're banning him. Feel free to pick anyone from our approved list of regime apparatchiks."

After #Redhat and #Hashicorp changes in their #opensource policies, I'm now looking with suspect and reviewing all single-company #FOSS projects without a clear story of multiple contributions, without a foundation based governance and/or subject to copyright #hijacking for third parties contributions. (as the infamous MySQL one).
If you are strongly depending on such a project, it is time to sleep worried. We are living in very strange times.

do i mangle my hand when using emacs?

no. what is wrong with you?

rebind your keys.

lowkey sick of this constant bullshit we emacs users get. i would need all my fingers and toes in order to count all the vacuous insults that pass for legitimate discussion topics about emacs.

it’s too heavy
it’s trying to be an operating system
associated with stallman
people who have never learned any lisp dunking on elisp
people in general discussing emacs without having ever put any effort into evaluating it

actually, this is a species of a particular laziness: people instructing others on topics they have not actually learned.

@vidak i converted from being a long time vim user to emacs and it took about a month to have kind of a flow. i'm very happy with having switched now and unhappy i believed the fud for so long.

this is not a anti vim rant, it's very good too. just a matter of taste.

Germany might ban the second largest political party to preserve democracy

"It’s as if the German elites cannot hear themselves. They are essentially arguing that the only way to save German democracy is to tear it down, by banning a party that is supported by a fifth of the population."

This is democracy Ukraine style.
