hot take: #cs academics should be expected not only to publish the full source of the programs that demonstrate their research (I can't believe this still needs to said), but they should also be expected to offer #ReproducibleBuilds of the environments so that the results may be reproduced at a later point in time. "it works on my machine" is no longer a legitimate problem and "I'm self-conscious about the code because its messy" both holds you to a lower standard than undergraduate CS students are held to for their assignments, while holding the reader responsible for reconstructing your research from some a small set of source snippets, which amounts to imposing trust in the authority of university discourse, which is a kind of metaphysics.

taking a few weeks to learn how to use #guix for #ReproducibleResearch should not be too much to ask, knowledge production is mere discourse production when the results cannot be scrutinized beyond a peer review process without a good deal of effort, which we all know that few people have the time for. if you can't be bothered to get it working, then why should your readers be expected to assume that it works?

A perfect day for Apple picking, how I celebrate my birthday! 😊🍎🍏🍂

Tell that to the EU trying to bully and snuff out twitter.

I will always have you in my heart for the rest of my days. My sweet girl. We will be reunited.

Es ist nicht besser, sondern viel schlimmer geworden.

Was soll das!?

"Die ARD-Dokumentation «LNG um jeden Preis» demontiert die Mär vom angeblich sauberen Flüssigerdgas LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) aus den USA. Auf einer Recherchereise durch das Produktionsland bringt der Autor Michael Höft erschreckende Fakten ans Licht: Die Gewinnung von Flüssigerdgas führt zu radioaktiven Abfällen, vergifteten Flüssen und einer massiven Klimabelastung."

Photos from three weeks ago when I was on a short but fun sailing trip with the brig Tre Kronor, a.k.a. "Tre Kronor af Stockholm", see https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tre_Kronor_af_Stockholm #ShotOnLibrem5

I‘ll try that to get a free Bazooka next week.

"..there is always soma, delicious soma, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon..."

Have you remembered to take your daily soma drug?
(PS, what is your soma?)

Mild inconvenience of compartmentalizing identities is that for the most part, since this is a "fedi only" ID, I don't seem to be doing much.

I /could/ talk about projects I do... but then search-engines exist and that'd be a very bad idea.

On the upside, none of that employer snooping bullshit.

Damn, I didn't paste the link 🤦

It's monospace font though, but it's a bitmap one, and there are examples there of how it looks in different resolutions, see for yourself how it fares, even with 5x8 characters it's still nice.
