I have done a mastodon.technology -> c.in -> qoto.org reach around transfer and now I am going to sleep

I'm planning on open-sourcing my game (store.steampowered.com/app/112) and releasing it on Linux :)

Had to switch audio libraries (was using FMOD, now using SoLoud) but it's promising so far, just got the sound effects playing again.

@bonifartius @dave @Hyolobrika I think the world has one common problem: shitty politicians and their dirty ambitions and greed.
putler destroyed much more in Russia than in Ukraine. he destroyed Russia for 20 years. the results are disastrous. he destroyed nearly everything: economics, industry, agriculture, medicine, science, education. nothing's left. so people hate that damn usurper and fascist with his war.

the real question is if it is sensible to do so.

In my opinion there's nothing you can't do with #ActivityPub. You want DIDs? You could do DIDs. You want "curation and moderation" to be a separate...

@natalie no idea about the others, but I've been a happy Mumble user for a looooong time. In a couple of teams I worked with we just always had it on and used it as virtual office space. Only possible because Mumble has very low CPU requirements, so it can happily sit in background without getting in the way, the push-to-talk feature, and that the server is low key effort to run.

what is with this alternate history lie that people "hated teamspeak/ventrilo/mumble/whatever" and therefore discord swooped in and saved the day

i was on voice chat daily from 2007~2016 and nobody "hated" them... some were definitely better than others, we were very happy with teamspeak

@Curvin @MK2boogaloo thought the same.
dont let that stupid mindset get a hold of you.
you will reach your 30's, 40's and more.
prepare for it man.
dont waste your youth like i did.
@nugger Everything is a larp until it isn't.

You are legally allowed to dress like this, no one can stop you. People wore hasmat suits to buy wine and Bananas for two years.
The elites don't want you to know this, but wearing a ranger costume is free. I own 241 ranger costumes.

classic green quadrant about the green quadrant:

> our quadrant is the best, all really good scientists etc. were left wing libertarians, our ideas are totes objectively the bestest!11

classic green quadrant about other quadrant:

> YOU ARE WRONG BECAUSE APPEAL TO AUTHORITY!!11 [insert any other "fallacy" they read about on wikipedia]

using these cookie cutter accusations of fallacies is the biggest fallacy of them all, and green quadrants are experts in falling into that pit.

so i spent some time to read this

i have no skin in the game but some takeaways from this:

I’ve been living this every day for almost two years. the most important part of this is learning when to separate work and personal time. i was high strung like this for a long while but forcing myself to take breaks has lead to much greater mental health
‘development’ platforms doesnt have to be full scale, you can literally run it on a shitbox and be fine. it doesnt have to support thousands of concurrent users.
Peertube is arguably a better platform, it federates and can be deployed for pennies, the only downside was chat which is being fixed for peertube 6.0 later this year. Poast TV on several occasions has had ~3-4k users sustained for hours with no real hiccup besides chat. working on peertube is the smart avenue, not reinventing the wheel
demanding money from your users almost universally ends up in failure
holding a platform hostage absolutely will

according to robs dns, they are using digitalocean which unless you are hyperscaling and building and destroying droplets on the fly as demand scales you are absolutely wasting money but you’re wasting incredible amounts of money even using digital ocean in the first place.

poast has had to scale up and down with user demand its whole life to survive. you dont have to hold your platform hostage. if you love your platform and what you do, you’d never hold it hostage. if you cant adapt in this environment you are doomed to fail. it’s just the nature of this kind of site
