One thing we underestimate is the religion of techbros. They don't even realize they're religious.
But a lot of people grew up eating stories about "general" AI and space colonies and these science fiction tropes became ingrained pretty deeply into their psyche.
They simply think this stuff is foretold. They believe in it with a religious fervor.
If you're stumped as to why AI is being adopted rapidly at all levels despite being nonsense, it's because they're zealots.

Face-off in Britain over controversial surveillance tech
> On a grey, cloudy morning in December, London police deployed a state-of-the-art AI powered camera near the railway station in the suburb of Croydon and quietly scanned the faces of the unsuspecting passersby
> The technology [..] has proved so effective in trials that the UK government wants it used more

I added a prototype for encrypted chat messages to honk.
It's nothing fancy, just nacl box Curve25519, Salsa20, and Poly1305. If you want to play along, add a chatKeyV0 property to your actor with a base64 encoded 32 byte public key. If honk sees that an actor has a chat key, it will encrypt the content property of ChatMessage activities. See attached spec for details.
I wouldn't call this implementation end to end, because honk isn't the endpoint unless you're running it on your phone (which you can do, btw). The server still does decryption, but that's not required. You can trivially remove the secret key from the server, and then only devices with the key will be able to decrypt. The server will not.
This is merely a stopgap until the year 2030 when the people in charge finish the real E2E AP spec and tell us how to encrypt messages properly. But if you'd rather write code than wait around, here's something to play with.
I still have my copy of "Project Oberon: Design of an Operating System and Compiler" by Niklaus Wirth and Jürg Gutknecht.
The book is more than a tribute to Wirth and a manifesto of his life and work. It's also a fine piece of system design documentation and technical writing.
state licensed lolbert and hypernatalist with a breeding kink. never watched rick & morty and i'm proud of it.
don't only rely on my words, read what happy customers wrote about me: "10/10 would buy again", "top seller, great value", "wildly incorrect", "teil des problems", "without imagination", "Repeated provocation using copy/paste.", "if you take a dump in my mentions, I just might notice the smell", "log out and never login again", "Du redest wirr.", "My brother in Christ, this is such a ridiculously dumb statement that I will no longer entertain this silly conversation.", "Auf Derailing-Diskussionen habe ich keine Lust. Finger über dem Blocken-Knopf.", "Wie gesagt, du kannst der Diskussion inhaltlich nicht folgen."
