With the ongoing move to all-digital, our generation will leave less information to future historians than anyone before us who used books, parchment, clay or stone to communicate.

For the last 10 hrs, something like the sound of microwave popcorn popping at a rate of 1-4 kernals every 5 or so seconds, has been coming from the empty apartment unit above me.

I don't care what it really is and I might have popcorn for breakfast today.

Praise "Bob"!

good thing with outrages like the current rms stuff is that one knows who to trust and who is likely to backstab you :)

"Selam G." clearly has a reading comprehension problem, because I read the 'notorious' thread too. In full. Including the referenced documents.
And I came to a completely different conclusion.

Yeah, that took me several hours. If your attention span is max 3 mins or are too lazy to read more then the click-baity headline, then you'll arrive at the WRONG conclusion.

#RMS may not be a likeable man. Or wrong at times. So what?

I'm sad to see the names of people I know (even personally) and whose work I appreciate among the signatories of this public lynching.

We are calling for RMS to be removed from all leadership positions in the FOSS community, including the FSF and GNU, and for the FSF board to resig...
they have shut down everything but:

- grocery stores
- pharmacies
- liquor stores
- banks
- post offices

but what about pet stores? pets may need particular foods, kitty litter, etc. is that less essential than food and toilet paper for humans?

if i have to order things for my pets online, shouldn't i also have to order things for humans online and vice versa?

pets aren't hobbies. they're family members.

@jrballesteros05 @alexl Stallman has even publicly gone back and apologized for the statements that people continue to hate him for. Are public figures never allowed to make a mistake ever?

Stallman exposed his controversial opinions, and took the opportunity to learn from feedback from the community. I think that is probably a better course of action than to not expose those opinions, and to continue to behave with the world-view manifested by those opinions.

We should celebrate the successes and learning experiences of others, not seek to "cancel" everyone for any mistake they have ever made.

i think that the behaviour of can be criticized, but the methods used today are fucking disgusting. single persons getting steamrolled by thousands with accusations, public dismantling of their person, and calls for instant action. it's a mob eagerly awaiting the next public hanging.

people cancelling because is back on board: don't expect my sympathies if you are next.

half a century ago people have lost their job and public life because someone accused them of being communist, with show trials and everything. a bit farther back in time they were even killed. all in the name of the "good cause".

cancel culture, suicide (not me but WHAT THE FUCK)

so the canceldon crowd harassed someone for two months, all the way into a suicide attempt that almost succeeded

MULTIPLE suicide attempts, actually

yes, they kept going after the first

for a bad(ly worded) take that was (as far as i can tell) very open to interpretation, and people of course decided to interpret it the worst possible way

but cancel culture isn't real amirite

people having their life ruined, to the point they want to fucking end it, over the dumbest things—that just doesn't happen, at all, ever!!

okay it does but it only affects $supposedlyprivilegedpeople so it's okay!!!

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU AWFUL EXCUSES FOR HUMAN BEINGS!? EVEN IF IT DID IT WOULD BE FUCKING REPREHENSIBLE—BUT IT DOESN'T! IT MOSTLY AFFECTS PEOPLE WHO CAN'T JUST SHAKE IT OFF! WHO WILL BE SCARRED AND TRAUMATISED BY YOUR SHIT! YOU KNOW, PEOPLE WHO ARE QUEER, NEURODIVERSE, MENTALLY ILL, OR OTHERWISE SOCIAL OUTCASTS. PEOPLE WHO TEND TO BE INSECURE AS FUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE

PEOPLE WHO ARE COMMONLY MISUNDERSTOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND YOU TOXIC PIECES OF SHIT CHOOSE TO DO SO DELIBERATELY

YOU FUCKERS DON'T JUST PUSH THEM OVER THE EDGE ONCE. NO—YOU'LL GLADLY DRAG THEM THERE AGAIN IF THEY SURVIVE IT

FUCK YOU
FUCK ALL OF YOU

how does anyone stand reading the for more than a few seconds? full of triggered people regardless which side of whatever battle is fought today. it seems that the masses on other social media are living in their confirmation-bias-algorithm-truth-bubbles, and everything not according to it shall be eradicated. fucking insane and pretty scary considering how many people are on those platforms.
