Centralized services, yeah.
I love not being able to write to the team leader in one project considering a book/notes/handbook (it hard to say what it is now tbh), because we communicate via Discord

Silly discussion of the day

>we should have schematics and the source code of hardware that gets sold to the public
<but if they do that the chinese will copy it
>aren't the Chinese the ones who build them anyway ?
<Yeah but they can't maximize profit if they do so, that's part of how capitalism works
And this is what happens when you send your kids in business school.

what tends to happen in multicultural societies is that the minorities begin to seek power and influence, and when this begins to threaten the majority, all hell breaks loose.

multicultural societies are often unstable. and even if ethnicity doesn’t officially exist, a little bit of eavesdropping quickly reveals what people actually think.

if you leave people alone and don’t teach them political correctness, the end result is often the opposite. every culture started out as ethnocentric, often with a pronounced racism to go along with it. it’s a natural tendency and the west felt it was necessary to moderate it.

it’s easy to like the vision that internationalists have, but it rarely works out as expected. as with most ideologies, they work best if everybody got the note. they break down if no one is on the same page, and in the case of a multicultural society, no one is on the same page literally per definition.

“let’s gather peoples who have fundamental and often irreconcilable differences and try to unify them.”

think about religion: syncretism sounds great on paper. “as a compromise, let’s mix and match religious beliefs”. the problem is that you’re only creating another religion and you are now a heretic to everyone.

i don’t have any good solutions though. isolationism has some major drawbacks, so i don’t believe in that.

it’s interesting to note how popular it is to want to preserve the heritage of indigenous peoples yet also be an internationalist and social justice warrior.

in Norway, you need Sámi ancestors in order to register to vote in Sámi Parliament elections. in any other context, this would get labelled as ethnic discrimination, but since it’s indigenous people doing it, no one objects to it.

and if we are to preserve old cultures, should we also preserve any sexist and homophobic beliefs found in them? what about rituals that would be unacceptable to westerners?

and what are we to make of the idea of lands that are off limits for settlement by people who aren’t native?

a lot of this stuff is completely unacceptable if it comes out of a white person’s mouth, unless the audience is white nationalists, that is…

@kvuj Tbh letting access freely your kid to the internet is a mistake these days, even with curating with blacklisting, it doesn't stop corporate/gov woke brainwashing.

Here are the lighthouses of Europe.

The map is even better than it might seem at first glance: the colors are the real colors, the patterns are the real patterns, and the size of the dots is the distance at which each light is visible. geodienst.github.io/lighthouse
