@futurebird love mercury arc rectifiers. I got to see a bank of them running a few years ago during Open House Melbourne down in the Russell St substation. Was the last substation in Melbourne to supply mains DC power to the oldest buildings that still ran on it. Their last DC customer disconnected in the early 2000’s

Funkensender und Fritter-Empfänger

Die ersten Sender waren Funkensender. Mittels Generatoren wurde eine Hochspannung erzeugt, die einen Lichtbogen über zwei Kugeln erzeugte. Dieser Lichtbogen enthält neben Licht auch jede Menge Hochfrequenz im Mittelwellenbereich (500kHz bis etwa 1,5MHz). Über einen Schwingkreis wurde die Frequenz (ein bisschen) gefiltert und dann an Erde und eine Antenne (ein langer Draht) gegeben.
Ich benutze für meinen kleinen Sender ein Piezzo-Kristallgeber, wie man ihn aus elektrischen Feuerzeugen kennt.
Btw: Wer noch ein Mittelwellenradio hat, kann damit aufziehenden Gewittern zuhören.
