I just played with ChatGPT for the first time, and all I can say is that 5 years from now (if not sooner) my job won't exist (I'm a contracts lawyer) and whatever talent I have for writing will be pretty much irrelevant. I can't see how any human could compete with this AI stuff.

I prefer to see it as a challenge.
It's clear that he AI's capabilities will grow - but can't we always maintain an edge by standing on its shoulders? Seeking out those opportunities, and demonstrating their utility is actually fascinating.

@boris_steipe I definitely see how something like ChatGPT could help me in my job, so that would be a good outcome. I'm actually more excited about it than fearful, but I do foresee scenarios in which these tools could. be used to offset headcount. But I guess that has been true of many technological advances throughout the years. It's just that this one caught me completely off guard. I had no idea such technology existed outside of the movies.
