Over on Twitter, one of our interns accidentally tweeted this image which purports to be an advert from the 1930s, thinking it was real.
It rapidly spread to Facebook and Instagram, becoming the most popular tripe-based image in history.
Fortunately, that kind of thing wouldn't happen on Mastodon as folk here are a bit smarter, and they'd recognise the font used as one that wasn't introduced until the 1960s.
@hilarybaumann @vollans it's true that we can't connect (yet) and it's true that somebody put qoto on their bad boy list (though no-one seems to know why!) but we have yet to prove that the two things are connected. And to be fair, even if they are you could find your own server unjustly labelled in the same way I guess!
I think the qoto.org being added to someone's naughty list thing is biting me in the friends' list. My mate Steph @vollans can't see me despite the connection and waving and wotnot. What to do, what to do? 🤔

Probably not going to talk about this on Twitter (good lord that site is toxic) but it really does suck that the world’s richest man had a whim and now suddenly people who rely on it for income just… can’t anymore.
Books don’t actually pay that well, but I was able to cut down to 4 days at my day job, 1 day to write books (something I’m proud of!) but looking at followers drop off, I think that’s now just gone.
