Sweary and opinionated. It's best not to take it personally. Also hilarious but that might be less obvious.

Just a reminder about Mastodon.
Try not to directly upload videos here.
You have to remember that these videos have to be stored on the server that you're hosted on.
This would also eat up on available bandwidth, storage and memory resources of said servers and slow them down. Which would force server hosts to upgrade at a substantial cost.
Suggested idea...
Upload to YouTube, Vimeo or other video streaming services and share the link to the video here instead.
@davidabbottbris@toot.wales sounds delightful #follow
Bin day in my village means you'd better not be in a hurry to get up that hill.

*picture shows refuse collection lorry and team on hill between white house on left and large grey house with lots of windows in centre. On slope on the right is one car pulled into a driveway to get out of the way (brake lights glowing) and a second car waiting to follow the dustcart.

Does anyone have any evidence or guidance around structuring long descriptions of complex images (photos not charts) for #accessibility? I'm thinking about what to include and the order to put things in, including describing the focus and the background. #a11y
@jim_easterbrook this is me replying to tell you I enjoyed the irony of this message. Which means I either don't know how the like button works or I'm thinking you haven't noticed the irony and I'm wittily pointing it out to you.
Neither of these are good looks, are they? 🤣

Weight
Of all the rural euphemisms for gaining weight, "putting on a bit of condition" is the best because it correctly assumes I'm aiming for the approval of farmers
First day in my new role completed. Astonished at how different care homes dispensing is from community pharmacy. It was incredibly hard and challenging and the most fun I've had at work in a long time if I'm honest with myself 🤣. It's funny how you can spend your adult life saying "I like a challenge" without ever quite realising how true that is. #pharmacyLife #CareHomes #NewJob
@Wifiwits I should probably have read the replies before spending ten minutes working out it was IB505A1D but I did enjoy the hunt so never mind 😆

🇳🇱
Just FYI, with the number of followers I have, compared with the huge influx of new users, my feed is EXTREMELY busy.
I am trying very hard to answer every single one of you who message me to chat or ask questions, and please, keep it coming because I love hearing from everyone. But with how fast my feed moves sometimes a few messages slip past me without me seeing or responding.
Please everyone, if I dont respond to you please feel free to give me a gentle reminder and I will, it isnt intention, just hard to keep track of nearly 30K followers.

My name is Fernando Salvaterra, I'm a freelance map maker and illustrator from Brazil.
@jim_easterbrook weird when I looked at thr reply the thumbnail appeared in the first one. Maybe just a bit of lag.
@jim_easterbrook still no preview x
@jim_easterbrook lively idea. Shame I don't see a thumbnail but with the description one can easily decide whether or jot to click through
@AllSerene @vollans I think he tried everything but he's opened an account on the same server as me now so at worst a temporary fix. Thanks x
Will need to go back in to eat lunch but for a few minutes... #lunchspot

I'm enjoying Mastodon a lot but I am also still on Twitter. Essentially, I am now on both the heroin AND the methadone.

"If you want people to migrate to your site you need to do x"
We don't have targets, there's no end-of-year bonus.
We just want to make something lovely and gentle where people can spend time and be themselves and learn about each other. On a website where they're not tracked and graded and machine-learned about all the time. With no compromises to commerce.
Personal note, I'm just one mod, is that this should be an act of collective self-care. Christ knows we need it.
Love to all.

If I can't find it, should I build it? And so, I did. Welcome teachers, administrators, counselors, and all educators!
