Pretty depressing that the only thing that got most libre software people off G+ was the service shutting down, tbh.

@mjog I have one, but I don't use it. I much prefer Mastodon, or Pleroma (I've do away with Twitter if most of the newsfeeds weren't there.)

@cambridgeport90 I deleted my G+ account over the real names policy years ago and never looked back. I stopped using birdsite because of their corporate policy of tolerating fascists and hate speech.

If we don't hold these jerks accountable for their web sites, no one else will.

@mjog Can I ask a question, then? How do you then get the news from venders and organizations you follow? Most of the stuff happening in the techisphere, for instance, is on Twitter. I could use RSS, though that's a read-only means of retrieving information.

@cambridgeport90 I wouldn't necessarily agree with that premise, but in any case it you want to stay up to date, find some reputable tech news sources and subscribe to their RSS feed or daily email newsletters. Request they post to fedi as well as fb/birdsite. Get everyone you know to do same.

@cambridgeport90 I'm not sure why RSS being read-only is a problem though. You can always email journos?
