I'm having a hard time believing that all of these Twitter posts saying "Don't use Mastodon because of X!", where X is equally true of Twitter, are entirely in good faith... :P

@shelenn And/or just people who have decided to tie their identities to "Mastodon is bad" the way people so often seem to tie their identities to things over there. Probably both!

@ceoln Yes there are people who are activists (or people who exploit the algorithm to monetize) resisting thinking they can save Twitter from Musk - every post made there makes him money as he laughs all the way to the bank.. ive locked my account and shut DMs after all the spam... i check it from time to time to see how bad it is getting

@ceoln Mostly just repeating what they heard someone else say without having ever even looked at an instance list.
