I don't know why I spend so much time watching (or really half-listening to) anti-apologist stuff on the youtube.
The basic message is "Biblical literalism is silly, and people who publicly advocate for it it use silly arguments", and I'm already quite convinced of that.
I guess I like hearing my beliefs defended against painfully-weak attacks? Not a thing to be proud of perhaps. :)

@ceoln Biblical literalism confuses me as it is utterly at odds with any sort of understanding of how the Bible came to be written and translated.

@aethervision
Srsly! And really any sort of understanding of anything outside itself. It requires so much compartmentalization. Or something!

@ceoln I’ve felt it reflects a deeper need by the community, a need for absolutes almost regardless of the source. (Hence Trump) A lot of people primarily look to their faith for comfort and reassurance.

(A nobler explanation is that I'm watching for some apologetic argument that doesn't have a good anti. But then I'd be listening to the apologetics themselves, not responses to them, wouldn't I? Of course if I did that, then I'd be wanting to write my own responses, and that could get effortful.)
