Do primitive tribes deal with mental illness in similar levels and rates as more “advanced” societies? Seems unlikely.
Why specifically does it seem unlikely?
@ceoln For one thing, I get the feeling that they would be more open to a broader concept of what is normal. But fundamentally I just think much of our problems are self made. Not that we make them up, but that they are a product of our dysfunctional society.

That's possible... also we live a lot longer I think. I wonder if there is anthropology on the subject.
