Alot of billionaires have bought up traditional media print TV and radio and now a billionaire has bought a major online communication tool. They're shifting those mediums to the right.

My question is are there any billionaires or even millionaires using their money positively to make the US more open progressive and the world in general a better place? Are there any lefty leaning rich folk making a difference?

To all the lovely humans starting Mastodon instances:

Please think about succession planning, resourcing, and rules of engagement (aka Code of Conduct) as a matter of priority for your instance.

When you create a community resource, you're making a commitment. If you're new to stewarding a community, ask for help. #AskACommunityManager

It'd be really sad if in 3, 6, 12 months we start losing a ton of instances and Fediverse community members with them.

I guess I skipped the introduction part. So, I'm doing a PhD on temporal aliasing in future gravity satellites/missions, it's my last year! Currently based at Politecnico di Milano. Have a love for geosciences but also due to my topic I am super interested in cold atoms in space. Oh, btw, I have a podcast called A Bell Chimes!

Just going to put this out here to this wonderful community. I’m looking for a more financially stable position. I’m an early career developer getting my BS in Computer Science looking to get my “foot in the door”.

Help would be greatly appreciated. CV is on my website.

#OnThisDay 155 years ago, the first woman to receive a Nobel prize was born: Marie Skłodowska-Curie!

Today, the @MSCActions@twitter.com 🇪🇺 fellowship bears her name and helps young scientists in their research.

We will keep supporting them towards a better future for our next generations.

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.

So just wanted to share out my latest piece for #shfl -- a look at the Seattle 80s underground rock scene as such (really it was a welter of them). Grunge was always an oversimplification on many, many levels. (And did I get the Fastbacks and the Walkabouts in here? Of course.) https://theshfl.com/guide/1980s-seattle

Ok two threads on migrating to #mastadon

1) How and why its important to #verify and you can do that yourself
https://econtwitter.net/@fetzert/109296526744390720

2) How to add people you follow from Twitter on Mastadon at scale?
https://econtwitter.net/@fetzert/109297167010664834

I am on the #econtwitter #mastadon instance. To ensure this remains a good place, for any #introduction you see here of an account not verified. Remind them to verify.

Also make use of hashtags. You can reach out your bubble through them quite nicely.
