My first toot to say hey and a bit about me. I'm living on Ngunnawal land, I'm a union delegate and passionate about supporting workers with invisible disabilities. 25+ living with #cfsme and trying to navigate #LongCovid heart and respiratory issues.

Really keen to see the research happening on this and shifts in the medical world in recognising the longer term impacts this virus and others (EBV) can have on our bodies.

Love my sci-fi (Whovian), my amazing burlesque community and a good whisky. Animal and science memes help brighten my days (from my hospital bed, hoping to be released soon). Community is everything. ❤️

There is no subscription fee or in-app purchase.

That's because there is no "Mastodon" company at all. This whole thing is a volunteer project!

So, when you think about what #Mastodon "should be," or complain that it is "slow," that could be a sign that you need to get involved in the project in some way.

Sending a server mod some Patreon or pitching into to be a moderator are great places to start.

I spoke about this a few days ago, but since there are so many new folks here: Mastodon has lists. And they're useful. You need to already be following people but you can put them into lists and then just call up that list. So, I have a list for journalists, and for tech law people. And it's super useful for me.

Unfortunately, lists are not currently public or shareable, though.

But test out the list feature to make Mastodon more useful.

Remember when in 2020 IRS criminal investigators seized $1 billion in bitcoins from a hacker who'd stolen them from the Silk Road and sat on them for years?

They did the same thing with *another* Silk Road hacker the next year, this time seizing 50,000 bitcoins he'd taken from the market in 2012, now worth $3.36 billion.

This time the bitcoins were on a storage device hidden in a popcorn can in a safe under the floorboards of his bedroom closet.

Mastodon/The Fediverse now has over 1 million monthly active users, approximately the same as Twitter's estimated active user count in 2008, when I joined. People forget that Twitter also started as a weird, confusing new thing.

Apple Mail begging! Recurring crashes for months (endless hangs) + can't update Exchange server inbox (moves on client but doesn't actually change on server as seen in webmail). Deleted & re-added accounts, deleted envelope index, deleted Mail Data & re-indexed. Still same. Help!
