Golden age of blogging question: were there ever any notable group weblogs that were similar to MetaFilter in that every post from everyone ended up on the homepage, but where each user also got their own page/blog that just showed their own writing?

I can't remember if that's how Kuro5hin and suchlike worked

I grew up in a conservative evangelical environment, would consider myself an #exvangelical . Still love Jesus, trying to find a home in a mainline denomination. Like talking theology/sports/politics. Looking to find folks from the bird site and make new online friends. Theology is somewhere between #opentheism #openandrelationaltheology and #processparty #steelers #penguins #progressive

My hunch is that MetaFilter's model where anyone could post to the homepage without going through a voting or moderation queue was and remains pretty rare - I'm thinking about this today as being kind of like how the local feed on a Mastodon instance works

Ugh. I just realized that someday I'm gonna mention some software I wrote used subversion or CVS and after explaining what those are, some moon-faced assassin of joy will ask "why didn't you just use git?" and I'll have to say BECAUSE IT DIDN'T EXIST YET.

Any newly scaling instances curious about how they are going to govern all these new users, and build a sustainable community...

So, when something like this happens, is there a way to grab the feed of this server (typo.social in this case) and see a piece of it? Not a portfolio of top 6 users with their profile pictures, but just a typical feed?

Or is this behavior different with different clients?
