Of course it's a very different scene here now compared to June when I took this photo, but these goofballs are still around, experiencing their first winter

New from me at WIRED:
The UK is enduring an historic outbreak of scarlet fever, caused by group A strep infection. Cases *might* be rising in the US too; it's hard to know, because we haven't built the data systems that could tell us.
But if a wave of serious group A strep is coming, what might protect the US is greater awareness of the illness —caused, sadly, by the death of a NY teen 10 years ago.

Love to connect with all the trans/nonbinary mystics here, from pagans to Christians to Buddhists to Hindus etc etc. Funny how I used to think I was the only one 😅

Just read this, linked off of @pluralistic linkblog, and as usual it's 100% a perspective that is both informative and unusual:

A group of protestors painted a street mural that reads "Oligarchy" in front of Twitter's San Francisco headquarters today.

From The Guardian:

"House panel recommends criminal referrals for Trump
The January 6 House panel’s sub-committee is recommending criminal referrals for Donald Trump, his lawyer John Eastman and others for violating four federal criminal statutes, Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin says."

My 11yo expressed interest in #TextAdventures/#InteractiveFiction. I wrote stuff in #Inform years ago but I don’t think that would be his jam (and as beautiful as #Inform7 is I don’t think he’d be able to learn it quickly enough to avoid losing interest).

Does anyone know of good tutorials for #Twine that might be accessible to a bright 11 year old? I’d be happy to help him but I’d love to have something he could also read himself while I’m at work. Thank you!

I had this made by JLCPCB, according to the designs and instructions shared by Alvaro Prieto, the creator, on GitHub https://github.com/alvarop/usb_c_cable_tester

Very neat little board that shows which lines in a USB cable are connected, with different types of connectors across USB-A to USB-C formats.

I am a cheap date. There is not a day when I will not like your pet photo. Scrolling for animal pics is my form of endorphin-seeking behavior.
