To all #TwitterRefugees and all those who are kind of new here or don’t yet understand the dynamics of the Fediverse :BoostOK: :BoostOK: :

Be more generous with your boosts. Favs are always nice but they don’t enhance the reach of the toot.
There are no algorithms pushing highly faved toots – you’re the algorithm.
So if you want other people to see a toot, give it a boost 😺

I love it when a plan comes together -- this winter, the birds are using new garden-located bird habitats.
1: A slab of wood placed upright, Red-Bellied Woodpecker is investigating (& she's outside, right now! doing the same).
2: Create places for small sparrows, fencing for support, add sticks & other garden litter. (White-throated sparrow pictured.)

Cowboy to horse: “Are you hungry?”

Horse: “I don’t think I am.”

*Poof!* Horse disappears.

I would have explained this joke before I told it, but that would be putting Descartes before the horse.

Hell yeah, this is a proper article about Mastodon. Not just the usual Twitter-alternative rehash. This is about the #decentralisation, #fediverse, #ActivityPub, and "a much broader movement to change the nature of the web".

The crows were having a huge new year's day party this afternoon. Perhaps two hundred gathered at the local park and sat in the trees cawing up a storm. No predator to mob, mostly not feeding, just making a huge racket.

Anyway, here's one of them.

Me: Existing, curating the things I have in my life, and getting to know myself better that way.

Random person: "You are so unusual, you always want your things to be extra."*

Me: No. What I do should be "normal" and you would be happier if you saw that as a regular part of your self-care and mental hygiene, and not "being extra".

*The tone can be admiring, infantilizing, and/or condescending. Depends on the situation and person.

A decade ago I suffered from untreated bipolar disorder. While manic I wrote, painted & made a lot of crappy videos. One project I feel holds up is called " #SweetNeurologyofMyHeart ," written in a day it is a poem/prose work of #Art #Philosophy #Shamanism #Mania #Love #comicbooks and #compassion in 14 parts structured with people and things in my life.
I broke it into 14 short videos I will post one a day for grins.

The setting sun casts its warm light on the boulders of the rock jetty at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. Over head clouds meet the ocean on the horizon. It is late December and the year is drawing to an end. A new year awaits bringing with it hopes and dreams for pleasant days and quiet evenings

Every gritter in Scotland has a name. The names are chosen democratically by ordinary local Scots.

Think Boaty McBoatface.

This is the best thing I have ever learned about Scotland in years, and I live here.
