Over the weekend I got really choked up over the potential loss of Twitter. I've been there since 2007 and my big breaks into #journalism and connections to so many #depechemode fans came courtesy of that beloved bird app. So here's to building community and fresh starts. Come say hi!

I wrote a nano tool that tries to extract the #Fediverse accounts of your #Twitter followings: https://fedifinder.glitch.me/

It searches for the patterns @user@host.tld, user@host.tld and host.tld/@user in the screen name, description, location and URL field. It displays them to you in the correct format for easy copying as well as a CSV download that can be imported to #Mastodon.

Known issue: Mail addresses are included as false positives because people write their handle without a leading @: name@host.tld

#ScifiPrompt Most people picture portals as doors. An ornate, carved door, perhaps, in an unexpected place - like the wall of a graffiti-strewn alley. Or some might imagine an opalescent shimmer hovering between trees.
But portals often manifest as a sock lolling out of a drawer like an insolent tongue, just asking for a casual, irritated tug. They never come loose the way you expect.
That’s why I should’ve been more careful when I saw that teal scarf wrapped round the lamp post.
