This story was fun to write: Ten years later, here's how solar has changed this part of rural Minnesota. #energy #EnergyMastodon #solar

THIS!! Been saying this for years. Thank you @ciaranmartin

‘Many of the deeply entrenched problems in cyber security are rooted in economic, social and behavioural factors as well as technical and legal ones.’

2004 ➜ 2022
Approximately 3 hours of painting on each (not sure about the 2004 one, it was a long time ago)

It takes years to learn how to do things in a few hours.

A reminder that your writing doesn't need to be profound or touch upon heavy topics to matter. It can be fun and absurd and lighthearted and silly. Its sole purpose may be to make someone laugh. And we need more of that in the world.

Mapache at the beach. This is a mapache. A small raccoon who, unlike it’s cousins in the US, is perfectly healthy and active in the daytime. It is endemic to Cozumel, Mexico and also endangered. Plus, it is absolutely adorable. #Mapache #raccoon #Endemic #endangered #Cozumel #photography #fotografía #fotografie #wildlife #beach #wildlifephotography #pixelfed #adorable #soearnest #PleaseSirIWantSomeMore #LauraCochranPhotography

I love that you can natively follow hashtags here. It's one of those features I've wanted forever. Don't have to worry about figuring who to follow, can just follow stuff like #infosec #cybersecurity

Not sure these will top last night's journey into #macrophotography, but here's a go at it...

Even with some freezing rain, this Northern Cardinal is still looking quite handsome. I would not look like me if I were outside at that time. #birds #birdwatching #birdphotography #nature #wildlife #naturephotography

I'm looking for a book of non-fiction vignettes involving unusual and interesting cases in a #PEDIATRIC #medical practice. Fiction focused on a pediatric setting could also be of interest.

I am trying to encourage a young person who is already interested in pediatrics, and also already loves medical mysteries, like The Poisoner's Handbook. I know pediatrics isn't quite that dramatic but I want to catch their attention. They are open to it.

For anyone wondering, I'm still unable to access Twitter until I delete this tweet, which is factual journalism that doesn't even break the location rule Twitter enacted a few days ago. The account isn't marked as suspended anymore, but I can't use it or see tweets from people I follow. Using Mastodon exclusively for now and actually really enjoying it.

Just migrated from Twitter.

Here to talk to other chemists, educators, and birders.

Where should I start?

How about one of my favorite photos I've ever taken—a remarkably friendly Red-breasted Nuthatch.
